Chory zaczyna odczuwać osłabienie określonych grup mięśni, szczególnie kończyn dolnych lub górnych. Często pierwszym objawem choroby są nagle pojawiające się kłopoty z chodzeniem. Czasem może wystąpić nagła niesprawność mięśni kończyn górnych, zwłaszcza dłoni. W późniejszym okresie choroby pojawia się wzmożone napięcie mięśni (spastyczność mięśni), szczególnie kończyn dolnych i górnych, którym towarzyszą przykurcze dodatkowo bardzo utrudniające ruchy, a zwłaszcza poruszanie się.

• Niesprawność kończyn górnych
• Zaburzenia motoryki jelitowej
• Drżenie kończyn
• Zaburzenia połykania
• pogorszenie się wzroku, nieostre widzenie,zawężenie pola widzenia,podwajanie się obrazów
• niestabilność emocjonalna,
• u części pacjentów obserwuje się depresję, u innych euforię.

Przyczyny

• podłoże immunologiczne, co oznacza, iż dużą rolę w powstawaniu patologicznych zmian w układzie nerwowym odgrywają wirusy.

Warto też skonsultować z lekarzem dotychczasowy jadłospis, gdyż SM to choroba narzucająca pewne ograniczenia w doborze posiłków.

Jak pokazują statystki najwięcej zachorowań na SM odnotowuje się w mniej nasłonecznionych regionach. Badania pozwalają sądzić, iż niedobór witaminy D- powstającej w wyniku działania promieni słonecznych może przyczyniać się do rozwoju choroby.
Prawdopodobnie na rozwój choroby wpływa również dieta, wysokokaloryczna, bogata w tłuszcze i cukry sprzyja wystąpieniu SM, niskokaloryczna może zmniejszyć ryzyko zachorowania.
